The Botan Tarot (Akane edition)

NZ$120.00

Well well well - look who dressed up for a third outing into the world! The beautiful Botan tarot just got the most amazing makeover - and she is dressed to impress!

I love the blue/indigo version of the Botan tarot (I think that will always be my ‘vision’ of the ideal colour palette for this deck), but my goodness, this Akane edition (deep red colouring with gold foil outlines - for the box, guidebook and deck backs - and deep red edging) - holy smokes, when this deck arrived, it took my breath away. Absolutely gorgeous - and although I love the indigo version, this one feels just as perfect too!

The card stock used for this deck is slightly different to the 2nd edition - they feel amazing, and aren’t as thick - so the box is slightly smaller than the 2nd edition as the cards aren’t as thick.

The Botan tarot has a really ethereal feel and the illustrations are absolutely divine. When I read with this deck, it’s often quite gentle but with a straight up message (which I love). I feel like this deck is even more direct with its strong colouring - and I get a sense of luck and play with this deck too. I’ve enjoyed using this version of the deck - it feels very special - and it is special given it is a limited edition version.

So, whether you already love the Botan tarot or you’re just noticing it now as the amazing Akane edition, this deck is a stunner and would be a stand out deck to have in any divination deck collection.

Special limited edition of The Botan Tarot, a 78-card tarot deck featuring lush and whimsical watercolor illustrations, inspired by Art Nouveau and Japanese folklore. This variant design is inspired by lacquer dishes my family uses for new year celebrations, and a deep red edge color inspired by akane dye (a nod to the original indigo edges of Botan, both being popular dye colors in traditional Japanese textiles).

  • Cards are 330gm German black core with poker oil coating and a linen finish.

  • Iconic Botan peony design in light gold foil on the card backs as well as wrapping around the corners of the box.

  • Edges are a unique Japanese Akane-red, with gold microflecks.

  • The deck comes with a full-color guide booklet of simple interpretations; both the deck and guidebook fit within the box.

  • Please note: Two of the cards have mild nudity. Please use your best judgement as to the age appropriateness of this deck.
