Ahoy there! And welcome to the beauty of the Tempest Tarot deck. I started to notice the cards from this deck showing up on social media quite a bit and got curious. And I’m glad I did!
This mass market deck created by Maisy Bristol is a gem - the nautical theme is a great fit for the story that tarot weaves. The card illustrations represent the theme well and some of the minor arcana cards take on a ‘pip-ish’ feel - but it doesn’t detract at all. There is still plenty of detail and story in the cards to keep the thread going through all of the cards. The detail in some of the illustrations is awesome, and they’re completed in an art style I enjoy. The colour aesthetic fits the theme and overall deck well. The card backs are absolutely brilliant.
The cards are a great size and feel solid - they’re easy to shuffle (could be a bit to slidey for some, but I quite like that), and select cards from.
The guidebook is useful - a harder cover which I find easier to use - and the card interpretations and explanations are fine for all levels of readers but especially simple for beginners. An explanation of the images for each card keeps the nautical theme front and centre.
A cool little deck to have - especially if you’re into the ocean, ships and mermaids!
