I am a ‘water’ girl through and through - I’m a Cancer sun, my sister, cousins and I were known as being ‘water babies’ when we were growing up, I used to swim competitively, and these days I need to be around water or be able to get to water regularly. So when I knew Lennox was going to be creating a series of Folkloric decks, and one of them was going to be ‘Waters’ - I could not wait!
And this deck does not disappoint - blue edging (OMG), the same tuck box design (gorgeous), a wonderful guidebook, the back of the cards is perfect and the card art - like the Folkloric Forest - so thought provoking, emotional, beautiful….PERFECT. I enjoyed taking photos of the deck in one of my favourite ‘water’ places, and she absolute shines in that environment!
These decks had a bit of a journey to make to get to me (after being ‘lost’ initially on their shipping journey - aargh - you can imagine my panic hahaha!), so if you manage to snap up one of these beauties, you are a lucky ‘fish’ - seriously!
I cannot wait to get this deck into your hands - it is an absolute treasure!

The Folkloric Waters Tarot embraces the water element, the natural environmental surroundings, and Finnish and Northern European folklore, myth, and magic. It highlights the highs and lows of nature, living with the land, and respecting the unknowns of the deep sea.
Each card features a pre-existing antique painting from the public domain. (This is not AI generated.) I could see the vision of this world I was curating: hunting, foraging, and farming amongst the brutal honesty of the sea, surviving challenging encounters of life and death. There's nothing held back while living amongst nature.
The beauty of this curation of artwork is the ability to adapt and mold with you. The water environment embraces many commonalities throughout various myths and lore. And the great thing is, it doesn't have to be about that either. That's just where I've placed it for myself. These curated paintings are less about their geographical origins and more about the entirety of the visual storytelling they make up.
If you are a lover of nature, the darkness of the ocean, or a fan of the unforgiving honesty of survival amongst the land, then you may enjoy this deck.
